The U.S. 2020 Elections and U.S. Foreign Policy post-2020

nline international conference, 9-10 November, 2020 (CEST; Brussels time)

On 3 November 2020, after intense weeks of heated debate, the United States of America voted for Joe Biden as President of the country. The world is intently focused on which political direction the country will take and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and the German Marshall Fund of the U.S. (GMF) brought together leading European and U.S. experts and policy-makers to analyse U.S. domestic political realities and what the election results mean for the country and the world.

The conversation also explored what U.S. foreign policy may look like under a Biden adiministration and what the future of 'Trumpism' will be. What will be the impact on U.S. global leadership on its weakened commitment to multilateralism, and on the U.S. relationship with the EU? Could we see a resurgence of transatlantic engagement and what would that look like?
