India and the EU in the Indian Ocean maritime security as catalyst for cooperation

October 20, 2016
Author: Arndt Michael

At present, there are two main sources of insecurity in the Indian Ocean. The first one relates to instability in several of the hinterland and littoral states of the Indian Ocean. The second source of insecurity relates to the rise of new naval powers in the Indian Ocean– for example China–, essentially leading to a new theatre of great power rivalry.
