In Search for an African Development Model

March 09, 2018
Author: Arnold Wehmhoerner

Rwanda's development success of dictatorial President Kagame is hailed by many observers as a model for Africa. Critics claim that he has scarified basic rights like freedom of expression and association. The article examines the success and failures of African as well as Asian ideas for development on the background of dictatorial and democratic forms of government and comes to the conclusion that at the core of the African crisis is the failure of its leaders to provide effective and non-corrupt governments.
