Platform work in the UK 2016-2019

June 26, 2019

The UK’s platform economy workforce has doubled since 2016, FEPS and TUC-backed research shows. Whereas in 2016, 4.7% of the adult population claimed to be doing platform work at least once a week, in 2019 that number has risen to 9.6%. The online survey was carried out by the University of Hertfordshire, with fieldwork and data collection from Ipsos MORI.

The strong growth in platform work in the UK confirms survey results from other European countries, which show striking levels of platform work. FEPS, UNI Europa and the University of Hertfordshire will present the final findings of this Europe-wide research at an event in Brussels on 10 July (information to follow soon). It contains results from 14 surveys carried out in 13 European countries.
